Ramblers Association - St Helens Group

About Us

See our Facebook page St Helens Ramblers for photos and information about our walks

This local group, based in St Helens in Merseyside, of the national Ramblers' Association was formed in 1992.

Our main activities are centred on our programme of weekend walks/rambles, where we aim to cater for a wide range of walking ability. We also have an occasional Social Programme which is well supported.

St Helens is well situated for easy access to north Wales, the Yorkshire Dales, the Peak District and the Lakes: These longer journeys are usually taken in a private coach. When walking in areas nearer to St Helens, such as Delamere Forest, south Lancashire etc., we use members' cars for transport. Increasingly, we have begun to make more use of public transport due to the good rail links available in our area. These train walks are very cost-effective when we are able to take advantage of Merseytravel concessionary passes, and cheap deals such as Saveaways and the Greater Manchester Wayfarer.
